Long ago, there was a powerful demon king named Hiranyakashipu who wanted everyone in the world to worship only him. But his own son, Prahlada, was a great devotee of Vishnu. From a very young age, Prahlada always chanted Vishnu’s name and believed that God is present everywhere. This made Hiranyakashipu very angry, and he tried many times to punish and even kill Prahlada. However, Prahlada remained fearless and continued his devotion with full faith.

One day, Hiranyakashipu asked Prahlada, “Where is your Vishnu?” Prahlada replied, “He is everywhere.” In anger, the king pointed to a pillar and asked if Vishnu was inside it. When Prahlada said yes, Hiranyakashipu struck the pillar. Suddenly, Narasimha—a powerful form of Vishnu, half-man and half-lion—emerged from the pillar. Narasimha destroyed the evil king and protected Prahlada, showing that God always protects those who have true faith. This story teaches children the importance of devotion, courage, and standing for truth, no matter how difficult the situation is.

Lesson: Faith, courage and truth always win.

In the Vishnu Purana, there is a beautiful story about faith and surrender. Long ago, there lived a mighty elephant king named Gajendra. One day, while enjoying with his herd in a peaceful lake, a powerful crocodile suddenly caught his leg. Gajendra tried his best to free himself, and even his family tried to help, but the crocodile’s grip was too strong. After struggling for a long time and losing his strength, Gajendra realized that no one in the world could save him except the Supreme God.

With complete faith and surrender, Gajendra called out to Vishnu for help. Hearing his sincere prayer, Vishnu immediately arrived on his divine vehicle and rescued him by defeating the crocodile. This event is known as Gajendra Moksha, meaning liberation of Gajendra. The story teaches children that true devotion and surrender to God can overcome even the most difficult situations. It also shows that God always listens to sincere prayers and protects those who have pure faith.

Lesson: True devotion and surrender attract divine protection.

In the Vishnu Purana, the story of the Matsya Avatar teaches the importance of protection, wisdom, and preparation. Long ago, a wise and noble king named King Satyavrata (who later became Vaivasvata Manu) was performing his daily rituals near a river. One day, he found a small fish asking for help. Feeling compassion, the king placed the fish in a pot to protect it. But the fish kept growing rapidly, so he moved it to a pond, then to a river, and finally to the ocean. The king realized that this was no ordinary fish.

The fish revealed itself as Matsya, a form of Vishnu. Matsya warned the king about a great flood that would soon destroy all life. He instructed Satyavrata to build a large boat and gather sages, seeds, and animals to preserve life. When the flood came, Matsya guided the boat safely through the waters and protected all beings. This story teaches children about kindness, faith, and being prepared for challenges. It also shows that God guides and protects those who act with wisdom and compassion.

Lesson: Kindness, preparation and faith.

In the Vishnu Purana, the story of the Kurma Avatar teaches the value of teamwork and divine support. Once, both the gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) wanted to obtain Amrita, the nectar of immortality. To get it, they decided to churn the great ocean in an event known as the Samudra Manthan. They used Mount Mandara as the churning rod and the serpent Vasuki as the rope. However, as they began, the mountain started sinking into the ocean, making it impossible to continue.

At that moment, Vishnu took the form of a giant tortoise called Kurma and went beneath the ocean to support the mountain on his back. With this strong support, the churning continued successfully, and many divine treasures, including the nectar of immortality, emerged from the ocean. This story teaches children that great achievements require cooperation, patience, and a strong foundation. It also shows that God always supports good efforts and helps maintain balance in the universe.

Lesson: Teamwork, patience and support.

In the Vishnu Purana, the story of the Varaha Avatar shows the power of courage and the protection of the Earth. Long ago, a powerful demon named Hiranyaksha dragged the Earth (Bhudevi) into the depths of the cosmic ocean, causing chaos in the universe. The gods were worried and prayed for help. To restore balance and save the Earth, Vishnu took the form of a mighty boar known as Varaha.

Varaha dived deep into the ocean, fought a fierce battle with Hiranyaksha, and defeated him with great strength. Then, gently lifting the Earth on his tusks, Varaha brought it back to its rightful place in the universe. This story teaches children the importance of bravery, responsibility, and protecting nature. It also shows that whenever evil threatens the world, God appears in different forms to restore balance and protect all living beings.

Lesson: Courage and protection of nature.

In the Vishnu Purana, one of the most inspiring stories is about the Vamana Avatar of Vishnu. There was a generous and powerful king named Mahabali who ruled the three worlds. Although he was kind and charitable, his growing power made the gods worried. To restore balance and protect dharma, Vishnu took the form of a small Brahmin boy called Vamana and came to King Mahabali during a grand yagna (sacred ritual).

Vamana humbly asked the king for just three steps of land. Smiling at the small request, Mahabali agreed. Suddenly, Vamana grew into a gigantic form and covered the entire earth in one step and the heavens in the second step. With no place left, Mahabali offered his own head for the third step. Impressed by his devotion and humility, Vishnu blessed him and granted him a special place, allowing him to be remembered as a great and noble king. This story teaches children about humility, generosity, and the importance of keeping one’s promises, while also showing that God’s actions always aim to restore balance and righteousness.

Lesson: Humility and keeping promises.

In the Vishnu Purana, the story of the Rama Avatar highlights righteousness, duty, and ideal character. Vishnu took birth as Rama, the prince of Ayodhya, to destroy evil and establish dharma. Rama was known for his truthfulness, obedience, and respect for his parents. When his father asked him to go into exile for 14 years, Rama accepted it without hesitation. His wife Sita and brother Lakshmana accompanied him to the forest, showing strong family values and unity.

During this time, the demon king Ravana kidnapped Sita. Rama, with the help of devoted allies like Hanuman and a powerful army, fought a great battle against Ravana. In the end, Rama defeated Ravana and rescued Sita, restoring peace and justice. This story teaches children about honesty, courage, respect, and the importance of standing for what is right. Rama is considered an ideal human being, and his life continues to inspire people to follow the path of dharma and righteousness.

Lesson: Honesty, duty and righteousness.

In the Vishnu Purana, the story of Krishna, an incarnation of Vishnu, is filled with wisdom, courage, and divine playfulness. Krishna was born to protect the world from the evil king Kamsa, who had imprisoned his parents. To save him, Krishna was secretly taken to Gokul, where he grew up among cowherds. As a child, he performed many miraculous deeds, such as lifting the Govardhan Hill to protect villagers and defeating dangerous demons, showing that divine power always protects the innocent.

As he grew older, Krishna played a crucial role in guiding humanity. During the great war of Mahabharata, he became the charioteer and guide of Arjuna. On the battlefield, Krishna delivered the sacred teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, explaining the importance of duty, righteousness, and devotion. This story teaches children about courage, intelligence, and doing one’s duty without fear. Krishna’s life shows that God not only protects from danger but also guides us toward the right path with wisdom and love.

Lesson: Wisdom, courage and duty.

In the Vishnu Purana, Vishnu is believed to have taken the form of Gautama Buddha to guide humanity towards peace, compassion, and wisdom. Born as a prince, Buddha lived a life of luxury, but he was deeply moved after seeing the suffering in the world—old age, sickness, and death. Leaving behind his royal life, he went in search of truth and understanding. After deep meditation and self-realization, he attained enlightenment and began teaching people the path of kindness, non-violence, and inner peace.

Through his teachings, Buddha showed that true happiness does not come from wealth or power, but from a calm mind and a compassionate heart. This avatar emphasizes the importance of अहिंसा (non-violence), truth, and self-discipline. For children, this story teaches patience, empathy, and the value of living a simple and meaningful life. It also highlights that dharma is not only about strength and power but also about wisdom, peace, and understanding others.

Lesson: Kindness, peace and self-discipline.

In the Vishnu Purana, the final incarnation of Vishnu is described as Kalki, who is yet to appear. It is believed that at the end of the present age, known as the Kali Yuga, the world will be filled with injustice, dishonesty, and a decline in moral values. People may forget the importance of truth and dharma, and society may fall into chaos and confusion.

At that time, Kalki will appear as a powerful warrior, riding a white horse and carrying a blazing sword. He will destroy evil forces and restore righteousness in the world. After this, a new age of truth and purity will begin. This story teaches children that no matter how difficult times may become, goodness and truth will always win in the end. It also reminds us to follow dharma in our daily lives, as every action contributes to a better and more righteous world.

Lesson: Truth and goodness ultimately triumph.
